CUDA being disabled on 2 PCs

Sep 30, 2013 at 9:57 AM
my original thoughts were that this wouldn't be related to Cudafy, but something underlying in CUDA.... however I haven't been able to find any references on the web so thought I'd post it here:

I run Cudafy on 2 PCs, and I'm seeing exactly the same behaviour repeatedly on both machines.

After some heavy GPU usage (a couple of hours), Cudafy stops working with an ErrorNotIntialized problem on the GetDevice call.

As mentioned here:
it seems that somehow the dlls etc have become uninstalled.

If I use 3rd-party apps such as TechPowerUp GPU-Z, it also shows CUDA as not being installed (bottom tickboxes on this app, OpenCL, Cuda & PhysX are all unchecked).

I'm really at a loss as to what is causing this and how to fix. Re-installing everything is time consuming and doesn't seem to consistently work. Any help would be appreciated.

I think I've found the cause here, and it was quite unexpected.

I use Remote Desktop to communicate between my PCs. Apparently this takes over the graphics driver on the host machine and disables CUDA. Use something like VNC instead.
